Madikwe Game Reserve Transfers
Madikwe Game Reserve lies +/- 450 km north west of Johannesburg, along the border with Botswana. The reserve covers some 75 000 hectares and is surrounded by a 150 km long electrified perimeter fence. The travelling time between OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) and Madikwe is approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.
There are three main entry gates – Abjaterskop, Molatedi and Wonderboom. There is a fourth gate – Derdepoort – which is used mostly when travelling between Madikwe and the Waterberg region of Limpopo province.
Both Abjaterskop and Wonderboom gates are on the western side of the reserve. To reach these gates we follow the N4 / R49 route via the towns of Rustenburg, Swartruggens and Zeerust, which is tarred all the way to the gates.
Molatedi gate is on the south eastern side of the reserve and, to reach this gate, we travel via Sun City, which includes +/- 32 km of gravel road between the end of the tar and the gate.
The gates to the various lodges ranges from 20 minutes to nearly an hour, depending on weather conditions and game sightings along the way.
The gate opening hours are 06:00am to 8:00pm
